We are a small independent game developer located in Warsaw, Poland. Before The Astronauts, some of us worked on games like Painkiller and Bulletstorm.
Our latest project is Witchfire, a dark fantasy first person shooter set in an alternative world in which witches are real and very dangerous – but so are you, witchhunter.
Our first game was a weird fiction mystery titled The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. The game has won many awards, including BAFTA, and we sold over one million copies. It’s available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Click here for more details.

Why the prequel?
We are entering the end of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter pre-production, and as much as we love blogging and tweeting, we need to focus exclusively on the game for about a month or two.
We figured that while blog posts about game design are nice, we should make sure that there was something Ethan Carter related on the front page of our website. And that is how the idea for a short prequel comic was born. To buy us a bit of time until we are ready to reveal the first screenshots from the actual game. Soon!
We are not quite sure what to call it: mini-comic, illustrated short story, or micro graphic novel – but what matters is that it’s a real part of the game’s universe and story. We hope you’ll find it intriguing, and that it shows the direction in which we want to take our game and how weird fiction horror differs from other horror.
Please spread the word if you liked the mini-comic, and feel free to grab the logo-less wallpaper version of the last panel linked at the end of the comic.
